Founded in 1858, Denver, Colorado is part of the larger City and County of Denver. It remains the largest city in Colorado. The metropolitan Denver area population has surpassed 3.7 million people. Denver is the Colorado State Capitol.
The city is known as the “Mile High City” because the elevation at the state capitol building is 5280 altitude feet. In fact, there is a benchmark on one of the steps of the State Capitol Building that proclaims to be exactly 5280 feet high.

Denver, Colorado has in excess of 200 parks, both large and small. Some of these parks are very large parks including Denver City Park, Washington Park, Riverfront Park, and more. Denver also boasts of having over 300 days of sunshine per year.
This is a metropolitan area where the citizens like to be outdoors. Cycling is a very popular commuting and recreational activity, and the city possesses over 450 miles of bike and walking trails.
This is a diverse city, with people of European, Latino, African American, Native American, and Asian descent. Denver’s homeless population is substantially lower than many other major cities in the United States.
There are numerous attractions in Denver, including the second-largest performing arts center in the United States. The Denver Arts Museum is also one of the largest in the nation. The Botanic Gardens is a beautiful part of the city, and it hosts outdoor concerts in the summer months. Add the Denver Zoo, and the famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater to that list and you have some idea of Denver’s many vibrant and active venues.
The city is known for its sports teams, outdoor activities, the business technology sector, large medical campuses, aerospace communities, and its artists. The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is the largest outdoor art show in the United States. Another great art event is Crushed Walls, an international competition between mural artists, and that is a yearly attraction in the RiNo Arts District.
Setting at the base of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Denver is a dynamic and energetic community. One of the most highly educated cities in the United States makes Denver a destination for growing businesses from all over the globe.
